Warm greenhouses full of tomato plants. I used to spend a lot of time in those sort of greenhouses with my late grandparents, and it will always be a smell that brings back happy memories.

The scent of the night air in summer, specifically where I live (suburban Pennsylvania). It smells like honeysuckle and green plants and damp soil.

When I was a kid I loooooooved the smell of new tennis balls, but nowadays they don't smell the same. :( It was a kind of mid-toned fuzzy chemical scent (sort of like new carpet) that apparently scratched some sort of deep neural itch.

A lot of food/cooking smells... a big pot of spaghetti sauce or stew simmering on the stove, fried onions, roast chicken, brownies baking, etc.

I also love scents associated with the seasons. Green things and damp earth in spring, fresh cut grass in summer, crisp autumn leaves, and the cold snap of ice in the air when it snows.

Nag Champa incense, cedar, any of the 'green' scents they use at Xmas for candles (bayberry, mistletoe, things like that). Sage, pink grapefruit, White Shoulders.

My favorite smell is the one I possess, as I don't know how to experience any other olfactory process but my own.

My favorite scent is the earth immediately after it rains. It pains me to know that most other mammals are able to smell it all the time and humans just can't because we decided that part of our brain wasn't important.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot! The scent of cat fur right after they've been bathing themselves or they go outside and come in smelling like sweet hay and grasses.

When I was sick with a cold as a child, my parents would pour a cap-full or two of bleach into this HUGE humidifier we had. That is my favorite smell ever and no matter what I do, I can't recreate it.

Bath and Bodyworks's Lush Pink Dragonfruit.

And Cedar. It's too flammable to build a house out of, though. :(

Rain

I don't have one favorite.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Vanilla

Cloves

Pipe tobacco - while I think cigars smell rank and don't much care for the smell of cigarettes, pipe tobacco, especially cherry or vanilla smells really good.

Fresh-baked sourdough bread

Mid-winter powdery snow at night - I don't much like the cold and now live in a place where it doesn't really snow (maybe once every couple of years), but there's something about the smell of snow after it's come down for a while (not the first snow of the season).
