Ghostbusters officially most hated movie trailer on youtube.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Because of sexism, Y/N?

10% sexism, 50% nostalgia, 40% it is a bad trailer.

I'd swap those numbers. 10% bad trailer, 50% sexism, 40% nostalgia.

The trailer is really bad though. And it doesn't help that it has that confusing as fuck text in the beginning.

Well, yes, I'm not denying that, but the "omg feminazis" thing started long before the trailer. Hell, long before the casting was complete.

I swear I'm the only person who doesn't see why everyone hates it. And I'm damn picky about trailers and movies in general.

Considering that someone set up a bot to downvote it, while it may be a bad trailer, I'd switch those numbers around. Someone was really bitter and decided to set up a bot.

The trailer is not amazing, but it's definitely sexism. Look at the comments, 95% of them talk about "SJWs" and "feminists ruining art".

Youtube comments are 90% trolls.

Re: Ghostbusters officially most hated movie trailer on youtube.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're misusing the word "troll". I think 90% of Youtube comments are idiots with a bad case of verbal vomit, a dose of hyperbole, and a default to extremism. That's Youtube comment culture, it's not a place for intelligent discussion. But I'd say only 10% or less are genuine trolls.

The comments are misleading because someone at Sony has been deleting negative comments except the sexist ones. I've seen YouTube videos commentating on it.

What...why aren't they deleting all the negative comments?

The thoughts I have seen reviewers air is that they suspect it is to encourage the belief that all the hate is solely due to sexism, when it isn't.

That is really bad. As a defender of this movie (I bet I'm THE person sticking up for it here) I think it's a gross mistake to equate the anger at this remake with sexism. The fans are hurt that they'll never get a true sequel. Many movie goers are beyond done with remakes of classic films (and now even non-classics that aren't even 20 years old!) People were upset with this project long before it was announced that it was going to be all female.

I was the same until I saw who was directing and who was starring in the movie. I have confidence that they'll make something good.

I like the idea of female Ghostbusters, but...

It's a really terrible trailer.

Someone recut it to make it less shitty. The recut also has way more likes.

Holy shit that is an insanely better recut.

I've seen some good fan trailers, but that's probably top 3 of all time. I mean, the original one made the movie look damn near unwatchable.

This trailer is nice. Loved the clip transition from 0:06-0:11 and how well it fit the tune of the song.

I think the majority is because the trailer is bad and the movie looks bad, but the sexism issue is being confused by Sony deleting negative comments except sexist ones.

I've watched some of the trailer review videos on it, and for the most part it's been "I really don't care about the genderflip, but this movie looks bad" and citing disjointed SNL/Bridesmaid-style humour and a terribly cliched sassy black woman stereotype.

Bullshit.

Proof?

There is enough proof if you look for it, but knowing your type, you wouldn't believe even the most compelling proof hit you straight in the face because it doesn't fit your agenda.

No.

I love original Ghostbusters. It's a big part of my childhood. I worry that my enthusiasm for the new movie is misplaced but I think it looks really good and I love the cast.

The new trailer is hated because old-time fans want Ghostbusters 3. I still want GB3. We'll never have it because Bill Murray doesn't want to do it and because Harold Ramis has passed away (God bless him.) Yes, the Red Pill fools are among that crowd but I think it's wrong, maybe even sexist, to say the hate is all due to sexism. If a GB remake was made with a cast of the brightest male stars in comedy instead of the brightest female stars then there would still be people up in arms because The Internet Hates Remakes. And for good reason!

I did not want a remake and, in theory, I am still against remakes because they're uncreative and cheap. But I get nothing but good feels from this new Ghostbusters. If it turns out bad, we'll always have the original. And I'm more worried about these other Ghostbusters projects because they reek of studio panic from the backlash to the mere existence of this GB project.

Heard there were bots dedicated to downvoting the trailer.

I'm not usually one for dumb conspiracies, but this in addition to only sexist comments being up makes me think someone at Sony wants people to whiteknight it and any publicity is good publicity.
