If the Democrats learn anything from Trump winning, it will most likely be that to win, they have to be more like Trump. That won't be good for anyone.

This. The Democrats are already ridiculously conservative these days compared to where they used to be. Please, please, please don't shift our country even more to the right by letting Trump win. Our country is scary enough already.

We're not conservative. We're balk at most conservative rhetoric. Progressives are just that extreme. Please just start your own party. We do not want change by illiberal means. We do not want our individuality and liberty stomped out for the sake of the greater good.

Yes, the Democrat party balks at conservative rhetoric, but not conservative actions.

Conservative actions such as...?

I hope you're not confusing Democratic politicians with their voter base. Many of us are very upset with our elected officials.

Then stop fucking voting for them. Democrats decry the right using dog whistle politics about race and free ranging uteruses in order to turn out the base, but the Democrat politicians use the same fucking whistle only tuned to "buh suprme court" or "lest werst choice" and it is the same goddamn lazy tactic. Stop falling for it. They've been playing the mildy less rightward than the Rep and supreme court seat at risk tune ever since Reagan, and it is the exact same tactic as the race and gaypedotranswhores tactic from the right. Stop fucking falling for it and refuse to vote for politicians that use it to turn out the base and you'll get politicians that do what you want rather than do as they please and scaring the voter into doing what they want.

You're preaching to the choir. I'm voting for Trump or no one at all.

We do not want our individuality and liberty stomped out for the sake of the greater good.

And yet the great rallying cry is "we know she is shit, but vote for Hillary for the greater good".

Re: Politics Thread

(Anonymous) 2016-05-07 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's not about the greater good. It's about keeping the other side from winning.

Literally the definition of the greater good rallying cry.
