Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-10 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)This entire thread is a really dumb generalization and ignoring how the general election does not actually work like a swing state in a whole lot of decided red/blue states.

Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:06 am (UTC)(link)Calling them petulant little children for it is dickish.
Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:08 am (UTC)(link)For example: someone in Texas who loves Bernie is going Bernie or Bust and doesn't vote for Clinton in Texas. Is that person really helping Trump into the White House? No, because they never mattered. Texas is solid red. Mocking them for it and calling them childish is just so... completely out of touch with how things work.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:23 am (UTC)(link)A whole lot of people, according to the stats. Our voter turnout is ridiculously low.
You have no damn right to complain if you don't vote, or if you intentionally throw away your vote by voting for a third party candidate.
Complain about... what? Sorry. I don't know where your "complain" is coming from. That's a totally new addition to the conversation.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)If California goes nuts and votes Trump, I'll donate to the Clinton Foundation.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:21 am (UTC)(link)Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:26 am (UTC)(link)If it magically does, then as I said, I'll take my share of the blame for it and you my scream all the "I told you so"s you wish. But the chances of that are so low I'm fine with that. If you're not fine with that, vote otherwise.
Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 12:54 am (UTC)(link)And I think the second point you're making here is, frankly, completely stupid. The reality is that we do live in an electoral college system. It's ridiculous to talk about "not wanting to get your hands dirty" in relation to votes that realistically really do not matter.
Re: Complaint Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-11 02:19 am (UTC)(link)Electors (electoral college) are obligated to follow popular vote. Them challenging popular vote is EXTREMELY rare, would only affect races that are absurdly closely tied, and understandably very controversial. 99.99% of the time, they must follow popular vote. In most states this is written into law. What you are voting for is which candidate receives the electors, and yes, your vote DOES count.
You ARE relying on others to vote in a certain way you want to be too morally superior to do.
