Re: Complaint Thread

the pathologist today ranted because the other pathologist's office has its furniture moved around and the computer not hooked up and the new guy is coming in a week. he said it was "disrespectful" for the painters to not put the furniture all back exactly as it was* and then was completely baffled by me responding that it wasn't. and got on my case to call a guy who is apparently in charge of this office-setting-up operation and complain and have him fix things (that I personally don't think even need to be fixed, again, this guy's not here yet and hasn't said how he wants his office set up, including WHERE to hook up the computer). he has control issues.

*absentminded and careless, maybe, but not disrespectful, and I'm inclined to think it's perfectly fine anyway because there's so much furniture in there, it's been used as a storage room, and I am pretty sure the new doc will have some of it taken out and probably all of it rearranged, so how should they know where to put things?

That dude sounds like the kind of dude who looks for excuses to get mad about things. I can understand getting irritated if someone painted your office and then didn't put everything back the way you had it, but (for the reasons you already listed) this just sounds way unreasonable.

He has control issues and there's cultural clash going on.

He is a pain to work with.

Holy goddamn, it sure sounds like it. I think anyone who has ever worked in any academic field has met "that guy" though, so I feel your pain.

I wish you the best of luck in avoiding him lol.

Avoiding him? Heh. Currently I'm spending more time working in the office he is in than anywhere else put together.

Hopefully that'll ease up soon. My co-worker is easing her way back in from maternity leave and she'll be working there more, and I'm hoping hard that the new pathologist isn't a tool. The guy he's replacing, who retired last year, was awesome, but sadly I didn't really ever get to work with him...I'll settle for "decent" though, lol. It'll balance things out a little.
