If you're hanging around with people that think the bottom books are "ridiculous fantasy with no value"...why are you spending time with them?

Those authors both wrote valuable works that anyone could be proud of loving.

Way to blame them, asshole. Seriously, hanging around terrible people is one thing, (and even so, you can't attack people for doing what they can or judge their circumstances as if it's safe and easy for them to leave bad people)...but dropping people for disagreeing with you on what books you like is pathetic. Do you drop someone every time they think your fandom is stupid? If that's the case, that's really pathetic. It would only make sense if they really destroyed and harassed OP, but it just seems OP is making an observation about how the books are seen.

Also, they never even said who is saying them. For all you know it could be teachers or parents, and it's not like you can just get up and go away all because they hate your fav book. Lots of teachers in the U.S. think Harry Potter is terrible and worthless fiction. Does that mean it's okay for all the triggered HP fans to stop going to school forever? Think a bit before opening your mouth.

Asking "why are you doing X?" isn't assigning blame to anyone...overreactive!nonny, you really need to slow down and take the time to read the comments you respond to.

but dropping people for disagreeing with you on what books you like is pathetic. Do you drop someone every time they think your fandom is stupid

It's not about the things I like. It's in general. If you feel the need to tell other people that something they like is stupid...you aren't someone I want to hang around. If you feel that any book or media is worthless then...you aren't someone I want to hang around.

it's not like you can just get up and go away all because they hate your fav book. Lots of teachers in the U.S. think Harry Potter is terrible and worthless fiction

Having to be around someone isn't the same thing as having to pretend you dislike a certain thing.

Think a bit before opening your mouth.

Read a bit before opening yours.
