I would be less impressed if you told me your favourite series was Asimov's Robot books from 1950s than Mercedes Lackey's girl power horse fantasy.

I haven't read Lackey since I was 19-20 (actually think I've read most every Valdemar series except this one) but I enjoyed the hell out of her when I was younger. There's a lot of fun stuff there! Meanwhile I love hard sci fi and I've always found Asimov really hard to get into. I've never even tried this series.

The ones in the secret are more pulpy detective novels in a SF world than hard SF, so maybe that's why!

I like a good chunk of Asimov, & I don't like the Robot novels.

Why what? I haven't read them.
Maybe I should though because pulpy detective stories are great. I found the concepts in the Asimov I've read kind of dated and the characters nonexistent. I can take a little of that for a cool concept, but "Foundation" was not that.
