Ok, so. this guy is ridiculously ripped before he's transformed. Why wouldn't he still be ripped when he's transformed? Like, how does this work?

TG fic has obligatory cutiefication bundled with the transformation. Just roll with it.

Actually this is one of the reasons I like this series, there are diverse female body types, and female!Souji could honestly pass very easily for a bishounen boy until she takes her clothes off, and even then she's quite muscular and athletic.

Not to mention hair-colour transformation. I prefer the aubergine.

But why not huge AND cute?

Lol, it's funny you mention that, because the alternate route Souji? When he gets transformed, she's still built very muscular, and she's nearly as tall as male!Kyou is. Here, I grabbed a few images for you. Warning, the gallery is very NSFW although there's no actual sex:

Yeah, I was really happily surprised when I saw that to be honest, and it's part of the reason I'm giving this series so many passes, because it has plenty of annoying tropes of the genre (rape-as-love (not between the main characters thankfully, they're more than completely consensual), healing!dick, etc). Somehow the story manages to be pretty inoffensive and cute despite all that. I guess it's because the artist doesn't take themselves or their kink too seriously. Souji ends up rescuing Kyou from an attempted rape attempt (I told you it has the annoying trappings of said genre) and he's still got a silly crossdressing getup from the school festival on underneath his school jacket and pants, and Kyou tells him he looks like HardGay lol. Just little things like that kept me engaged and enjoying the series.

They've chosen a bad picture.

He [she? What pronouns do we use with gender shifting?!] is on the top end ripped for a woman not abusing chemical assistance and before the change he doesn't look as ripped as the picture they've chosen.

Inconsistent art in the series and bad picture choice by the secret maker tbqh.

Er...this is literally one of the only colour photos of male!Kyou in the entire series, what else did you want me to do? Not to mention male!Kyou is just that ripped, seriously, when he comes out of the shower naked and stuff at the beginning, he's pretty damn massive. Not as tall and brick-shit-house as male!Souji but still very muscular. The pecs look funny because the artist was trying to draw them squished together because male!Kyou is crossing his arms. This same issue appears in other pictures where that pose is attempted.

Oh ok, that's cool then.

Pronouns depend on whether you are trying to make a point about gender politics, in which case always use original pronouns no matter how jarring, or whether you are just telling a fun story in which case go with the pronouns associated with the body. Obviously don't do this in real life, but in fiction different standards apply.
