(Anonymous) 2016-05-15 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)I remember reading interviews with Jon Stewart after he left "The Daily Show" where he talked about how he just got exhausted with having to constantly talk about the political BS going on out there on a daily basis (he's still politically invested, yes, but he handles it in other ways now). I wonder if that's not part of the reason for why Colbert handles political discussion a little differently on his show now, too. Like you said, his TCR character does still pop up from time to time on the show, yeah, but there is, obviously, a difference between how his character handles political discussions and how his regular self handles them, and I sense he finds the latter a little more refreshing and easier to do now.
If that makes sense :p.
