I miss the character too =( The Late Show definitely isn't as sharp.

The actor has talked about how TCR was exhausting, especially the interviews where he had to do real-time rendering, so I can't blame him for stopping when he did...guy shouldn't have driven himself into a breakdown, the comedy isn't that important. But it's still a sad loss.

At least we still have John Oliver and Larry Wilmore. And Sam Bee has been absolutely killing it.

For the most part Full Frontal has been awesome, although I was really bothered by her calling Ann Coulter manly as an insult in the middle of a story condemning HB2...just seemed really hypocritical to me.

Yeah, that's a shame. I don't remember the specific line, but it's a really common blind spot even for progressive comedians =/

It was something about her being a skeleton with an Adam's apple or something along those lines. I know that's a fairly big issue for a lot of trans people so to use that as an insult while talking about how it's bad to discriminate against trans people just really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think there were bad intentions behind it, but I feel like it's something that someone should've caught and thought "eh, maybe we can do better". But maybe I'm overreacting, IDK.

You're not. But at the same time, everyone says that about her. She's an incredibly nasty woman. But you have a good point about the hypocrisy. Even Larry Wilmore is guilty of crap like that and mocking things like safe spaces despite being "pro-social justice."

Not to be rude, but why are you saying "the actor?" His name is Stephen Colbert. We all know it from the secret even. Also, had no idea he had a breakdown (did he really?) due to the show. Stewart did because he was tired of all the negativity. But Colbert? Poor dear.

Not a fan of Wilmore though thanks to the letdown that was the WHCD (expect Obama slayed). He was just so cringe worthy, even if he had some good jokes.

Because he played a character also named Stephen Colbert, who had very different opinions and experiences. So it's important to be clear when you're talking about Stephen-the-real-person as opposed to Stephen-the-character.

And no, he didn't have a breakdown! I'm saying, I wouldn't have wanted him to risk it -- better for him and Stewart to stop when it was still healthy, before either of them burned out.
