Man OP. Your one secret started a massive shitstorm of anon on anon violence with one entitled LGB asshole telling someone who was Ace/aro to fuck off. Then another guy (I'm aro/ace on the internet for the sake of making you look bad) jumped in and attacked the aro/ace anon too.

It's really not your fault. Fandoms are pretty violent for some reason. Your interpretation is okay, and you're not an asshole.

But you're wrong on several levels. "We don't even have a slur associated with us." Yeah you guys do. It's called "prude." If "slut" is a massive no-no slur nowadays then so is prude.

I wouldn't think of prude as an aro/ace thing? I mean it may be used for that, but I always thought it was more of 'disapproves of sex' rather than 'doesn't want sex' Like when I think prude I think "Your sex is gross, my lovemaking is pure and wholesome. I write love scenes, you write filth." Like I think of it being applied to "You don't want me masturbating on the couch when you have guests over, are you some kind of prude?" with the implicating being it's bad to disprove of the masturbation without much implication of the other person's sexuality.

"Prude" isn't an anti-ace/aro slur though, it's a sexist term for women. A slur is designed to target a specific group of people. Asexuals may be called prudes, but the word prude isn't used to refer to asexuals as a whole in the way fag is used to refer to gay men, for example.

"Prude" has nothing to do with sexism. Anybody can be a prude and it's sometimes associated with belief systems.
