I'm curious how you feel now. I've only been able to sporadically catch episodes this season but I was wary when Tony broke up with that girl he was with and then not sure about them bringing back Jeanne. It just all seemed to be heading to something with Ziva, but I so didn't want that. I didn't want his exit to have anything to do with romance. He was moving on, so it didn't feel right for him to go back to her.

I've only heard what happened but it sounds so stupid. I also hoped he would get another job somewhere else. Also, this is the second long-term character to leave CBS because of a kid this year (Derek Morgan), which is irritating because you can have a kid and a job too. At least they both could come back for cameos or permanently if the actors want to.

At least Morgan was lucky enough to get a lot of airtime and attention in his exit storyline, and most fans seemed pretty pleased overall with the way he left (myself included)*. I've only seen a little of "NCIS" here and there myself, but I know some fans of that show haven't been happy in large part because Tony seemed to barely be in the last few episodes of this season, and didn't get a whole lot of attention focused on his exit or the buildup to it.

I didn't see Tony's final episode, but from what I've read about it, I completely agree with everyone who've said it was basically a straight up fanfic plot played out for real. It did seem a rather odd and abrupt exit storyline, to say the very least, especially for a character who's been with the show as long as he has.

*You make a good point about people being able to juggle jobs and kids, though, yeah-after all, look at Hotch and JJ. But in Morgan's case, there was also the fact that he wanted to be there for his kid in ways his own dad wasn't able to, which seemed to be the biggest reason for his leaving.

I do agree that it is nice that both Morgan and Tony's stories allow them to come back if and when they so wish, though, yeah. I know sometimes killing a character when the actor leaves the show can't always be helped, especially if the actor has no interest in returning, but I much prefer it when the show leaves the door open just in case where possible, too.

I'm not saying I disliked Morgan's exit but I'm going to contrast it with what they did with Tony. One character is okay but it's still not what I would've preferred. They did do an okay job with the plot but I would've preferred something different for Morgan. Having Tony do it too and his done so much worse is irritating.

AYRT

Yeah, that's totally understandable. Like stated, I did like Morgan's exit overall, but I won't argue that there's a few things I might've done differently with it, too (namely tying it to the Dirty Dozen situation. I don't know what suggestions you would've had, but I'm interested to hear them if you want to share).

I feel bad for the Tony fans who weren't happy with his exit. Based off what I read, I can certainly understand why, and the weirdest part is that it seems the storyline didn't work for a lot of fans across the board. Anti-Tiva people were unhappy because Tiva/Ziva was part of the story, Tiva/Ziva fans weren't happy 'cause their beloved ship was sunk and Ziva was killed rather gracelessly off-screen (supposedly, anyway, since it seems the show wants to leave that door open JUST IN CASE), Tony fans were unhappy because the story didn't really properly focus on him and properly honor and look back on his years with the team, so...I don't really know who exactly the writers thought they were going to appease and make happy with this idea.
