Do you always post this early on Fridays?

No. But it would be nice. Rather than a five/two split to have a four/three split.

I always love it when case posts early! More time to enjoy secrets :)

Please freeze it. I don't want this anon to keep pestering me.

Thank you.

This one, too, apparently, because anon cannot take a hint (ironic that they're arguing about what constitutes rapey language while blatantly ignoring commands to stop)

Case, maybe some stuff got deleted, but I don't like what appears to be the precedence of freezing threads just because one person doesn't want to talk in them anymore. I didn't see anything hateful, antagonistic or spammy in that first big frozen thread between Lady_Dragoon and an anon -- until LD started calling them an idiot, to get bent and to not talk to her and go away (and then an anon started the "no u"). The rest of that one was civil even though they disagreed.

Being faced with dissenting opinions is what happens when you post in a public forum, and if someone doesn't want to be a part of that the answer should be to stop responding, not to freeze threads just because a poster doesn't like being disagreed with.

Granted, I haven't read the other threads yet, and obviously missed the genesis but I just wanted to put that out there.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
If they didn't want to see any more responses, they could also delete their own comment. You don't need Case to do that.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
I have to agree. If a person wishes to end a discussion, they should just end it. Insisting that someone stop replying to you or engaging with your comments is absurd as well as ineffective. Some of the comments LD requested to be frozen weren't trolling or even uncivil, they were merely disagreeing with her point of view. Requesting that own comment replies are frozen before anyone's even replied is even more entitled, since it basically means LD gets her say, but wants to preemptively block anyone else from having theirs. Dissension is the price one pays for participating in public discussion, and if LD doesn't want that, she can choose not to continue. Instead, she chose to keep engaging her anon commenters/trolls and then blaming them for responding to her!

Case, your policy of freezing comments to cut a troll off at the pass has usually been very judicious, but I think it sets a bad precedence to give one user the power to derail the discussion anytime someone doesn't see things her way.

+1

I get freezing or deleting the go away/no u spam, because that's pure weapons grade brainless shitposting, but freezing an entire multi-person thread so that no one else can engage with anyone involved in it is pretty bad form unless there's harassment or abuse going on, which there doesn't appear to be. It's entirely possible to stop participating in a discussion, delete notifs, and walk away from the thread. The discussion will either go on without the person who bowed out, or peter out on its own.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I still think that is a bad precedent. It is just a way of letting a specific person get the last word in. First person to go running to Case wins, instead of first person to act like an adult and just stop replying. There is an an easy way to end a thread that has devolved to that level and that is to stop posting in it. Getting Case to shut it down is a powerplay, not a conversation ender.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is why you're stamping your feet and whining like a snot-nosed toddler now?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. Mod has spoken. It's your turn to be the adult and shut up now.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Let it fucking go. You're making me side with LD just out of spite, here.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Doesn't work, tho. I remeber a couple of days (Weeks maybe?) ago, LD tried to end the thread by saying "Last word" and some beautiful anon bastard came back with "Nope" just before the thread was frozen, Beautiful timing.

Lady Dragoon loves to have the last word, so when she "Commands" (her words) the anon to not reply to her anymore, and they don't obey, what option does she have?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
They are basically doing the "no u" one-upping in the secret 13 thread again, it's getting really spammy. Could we get another freeze? I don't even know if that's not the same person replaying to themselves just to troll...

I'm the OP of the "I burst into tears at this part" and I thought the fandom and ers were going to be identified under the picture, not in the comments. I know this is a few days old, but could you please put that there for people who go back through the archives?
