I only pirate stuff I can't get on dvd, whether because it's not available, it technically is but was released once 15 years ago and you might find a used copy going for $200 on ebay once a year, or it's only available dubbed in Swahili with multi-gen google translate gibberish subtitles. My internet connection and computer are both slow, so if it's only available to stream I get friends with faster internet to pirate things. That said, I own upwards of 200 dvds and maybe 5 pirated shows/movies.

Now, if you're talking musical theatre bootlegs, that's a different story, but if they offered official soundboard recordings after every show I'd buy those too.

OP

As a musical theatre fan, I am frankly irritated that they don't release official recordings more often. I get it if it's in its heyday, but once the original cast has moved on and things have calmed down, I will gladly give you more money to get to watch at home. It's not like it would affect ticket sales, that's a whole different experience.
