I don't keep up with current episodes, but I used to watch it and like it. I don't really get why it's allegedly so super offensive--pretty much all mainstream Western TV shows having something in them that will offend someone. Why doesn't Modern Family or The Simpsons get this kind of treatment?

B) They're not specifically making fun of the demographic most likely to bitch about shit constantly on the Internet

A lot of people say modern Simpsons isn't funny though. And yet it really hasn't attracted hate for it. It's not about those specific shows though, those are just two examples of the bajillion on TV that haven't attracted this ire.

I enjoyed it when it was a weird cartoon on the Tracy Ullman Show, but it's just kind of...eh, to me, anymore. (Okay, 'detest' is more for Family Guy than Simpsons, but I still don't find the Simpsons all that awesome all the time.)

Simpsons is a weird case because I think most people would agree that it hasn't been good for a long time, but its legacy from the first 8 seasons is so strong that people still respect it as an institution, you know?

Yeah, it was pretty cool at first, but I gave up on it after awhile.

Frankly I don't know why more people don't complain about Modern Family, but I appear to be in the minority thinking it's horrifically unfunny.

+1. I watch it though because my mom thinks it's funny. The things we do for family...

My biggest issue with Modern Family is the fact that the gay couple never kiss, but every straight couple kiss at least once every episode. The second you notice that you can't un-notice it and it will forever annoy you, but I do watch it because it is easy entertainment to keep on in the background while doing other things.

My god, one of my old roommates used to put on Modern Family as background noise and I would either use my headphones to drown it out or get up and leave the room (politely, I didn't make a thing of it). I was done after the dads adopted their daughter and made a joke about her future driving skills. (Also the parts that I did end up paying attention to were just...not that funny to me.)

The first two or three seasons are fun, but there was a radical change in tone and characterization. I consider season 3 or 4 onward to be some type of reboot, re-make or spin-off.
