Or they actually like the story. Not everyone will like Reborn like no one will like any manga series despite its good reviews or not, especially Reborn's early volumes that really depended on one's sense of humor. Despite it's big slash following, most of the fangirls there read it because they love the characters AND the story.

Um... what story? And if I recall, most of Reborn's characterization amounts: "I HAVE A PERSONALITY QUIRK, NOW LET'S PLAY OFF OF THAT AD INFINITUM BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO DO!"

I rarely ever see Reborn fans discuss the plot. All I've ever heard from them is, "OMG, ___x27, SQUEEEEEE!"

I think I'd have to agree with the person who made the secret and the person who made this comment. Most of its popularity is likely due to the fact that the characters are so slashable.

If you actually looked at the Reborn lj com, there are quite a few threads with discussion of the stories. Of course it does get caught in between fanfiction and fanart but it is there. So people do dicuss the plot. It isn't rare, just click the tags at the side and see how many results you would get. Even at the aarinfantasy forums (in other words english yaoi central) , the Reborn thread is heavy with discussion of the storyline, and dare I say it a lack of mentioning the possible pairings.

But of course, I believe that your lack of experience with the series (as you dislike it) would probably leave you ignorant to that fact. So please don't bash if you are uninformed.

And seriously, hardly anyone reads a series just because the characters are slashable. I could name a zillion series like Princess Princess, Yami no Matsuei etc that have crazy amounts of slashable characters yet hardly any following at all in comparison to Reborn.

Frankly, I do not understand your whole comment about the characterization either... No character's traits in Reborn are really smashed into your face continuosly unless you think Ryohei makes up the whole cast.

Although I do agree with the secret to an extent, the first volumes were pain hence I skipped them all until the STORY began around volume 8.

LOL whut? If you read the first few chapters because the characters do flesh out as the series go on and are actual characters by the time the Kokuyo Arc.

If you don't see Reborn fans talk about plot, lurk moar. Hell, even the occasional Reborn thread pops up in /a/ on 4chan. We do discuss plot, often, especially when something big happens.

Nor is a coordinating conjunction. 8D It also just sounds better this way, i.e. the parallelism was off. I'd say the logic was off in the second clause, but it's still understandable in this sense. ♥
