I pissed off a cult leader, and now he's come out of Internet retirement just for me. He's a quantum-reincarnated Neo from the Matrix.

Truly, what a magical world that I live in, that I can honestly say I've pissed off Neo. Yipee-ki-fuckin'-yay.

Every time I hear about someone you've met online, either you post about how batshit they are, or I recognize their name and post about how batshit they are. You run in some seriously scary circles.

Well, I've met a lot of really NICE people too. I just don't post about them in the nasty threads. <.< I didn't mean to give the impression that I run in the online equivalent of Fight Club!

It's just... predators. They exist, you know?

Maybe I don't hang out in the places that sort of predator goes to look for victims. I post on places like feminist sites, so I usually see hate mobs and angry extremists, not power-hungry manipulators.

Hmmm. Better or worse...?

I'd say being the victim of a manipulator is worse than being the victim of a hate mob, but predators seem like they'd be easier to avoid if you've read about them and know how they operate. Hate mobs can wear you down through the volume and duration of comments even if you think you're immune.

I'm hoping it's the same dude I'm thinking of, because I don't want to live in a world where there are two super-aggro dudes with a cult-like following who are both soulbonded to Neo.

From my understanding, there are several of these fuckwits. I guess if you want to believe you've transcended other people's perception of reality, Neo is an obvious figure to idolize/identify with/use as an excuse.

Yeah, though to be fair, he's the only Matrix cult I know of! (Others involved Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and chaos magic.)

Enh, as far as I know, he's the only Neo cult? His fundraising crap involved creating video games, a failed junkshop, soap-making, and an honest-to-god registered church.

Also his primary site (it's down now) was Truth of the Spoon. Same as your guy?

What exactly...happened? (it's cool if you don't want to talk about it, but this brand of batshit always gets me curious)

Enh, the basic story on how I honked him off:

I've been wanting to do a dissection of one of these cults for a long time, because they are SUCH a problem in my subculture. (Seriously. I met THREE within my first month.) Neo got to the top of my list, on account of (A) he was the only one who hadn't locked or deleted everything yet, (B) he seemed long gone, and (C) I had heard the least unsavory things about him. (All three of these things have since changed.)

I was pretty open about my intentions online--after all, everyone seemed long gone, and I'm not that important, so I didn't figure much of anyone would care, except a few stray geeks who care about that kind of thing.

And then Neo showed up. He was. Uh. Not pleased.

Since then, it's been a race against the clock to save files before he deletes/locks them. He's created a tumblr account specifically in reaction to me.

... without context, what you did there does look a lot like the type of callout/archive posts tumblrites do a lot mixed with a less inflammatory ED collection.

Sounds like your angry someone is preventing you from accessing their stuff? That's not exactly a big deal.

I'm not mad he locked and deleted his blogs. I mean, that's the sensible move! Of course he would! I just thought he was long gone, so I'm annoyed at MYSELF for being wrong.

Going through your link provided... I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. Are you getting actual hate? Or just people telling you that you're taking this too seriously and that other people's stuff you posted is being deleted?

I read even more and honestly your lack of empathy in your tumblr is disturbing. The guy has cancer, is sick and wants you to stop this. Can't you just stop and let the man be? Analyse some other cult or whatever where the person is truly gone?

You're not being some kind of archivist, you are coming off as a kind of creepy stalker with no regard for a mentally unwell person. Reading your tags is disturbing because you won't let the guy be.

Kind of disappointed in you (not sure who I am speaking to right now on that front. Whomever it is who decided to do this. It's not what you're doing. But how you're continuing it, your style of responses and that you're misrepresenting it to the FS hug box as you being under attack by someone you have just stalked. Not cool)

*sigh* You know, honestly, if I were you, I'd probably think the same thing. But one of my friends got taken in by him, and my friend is also sick. Neo specifically PREYS on his fellow disabled people, often with the claim that he COULDN'T be harming anyone, because he's too sick. That's part of his tactics. It's why we tend to trust him--he's sick just like us. He's afraid and vulnerable, JUST LIKE US. And he takes advantage of that.

If it helps at all, I'm seriously considering just dropping the whole thing. Because I DON'T WANT to stalk him. All I wanted was to read up on his blog archives, write up his tactics, and GO.

So is quantumviable Neo's Tumblr?

That looks like quite the rabbit hole. At work right now so not gonna delve too deep atm.

I'm really impressed with how level-headed you are though!
