Calling it a "rum and Coke" could be considered "product placement" because no one orders a "rum and cola" or a "rum and Pepsi."

Being from outside the US, I thought it was called a "rum and cola" (it is here, but then we usually don't use brand names as name for things/products). I've ordered "rum and cola" in the US, but I guess people have thought I was weird.

Technically, rum and coke is called a Cuba Libre anyway, so ...
