Re: What's a telltale sign that a film is going to be bad?

If there are werewolves in it.

And I say this as someone with an entire shelf of werewolf movies, because I collect the damned things.

Also, if Rob Schneider or Adam Sandler is in it. But that's Easy Mode.

LOL... are there no good werewolf movies you like?

Oh, there are a few. "Dylan Dog" is vastly entertaining, in a good way. So is "Dog Soldiers." "Van Helsing" is a guilty pleasure of mine (shut up). And "American Werewolf in London" is justifiably a classic. But the terrible ones outnumber the good ones by at least three to one. I watch them with booze and mock them mercilessly.

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" is billed as a werewolf movie, and it's quite good, but... there are no actual werewolves in it, which made me a sad panda.

FUCK YES Dog Soldiers.

I also collect werewolf movies, and I have seen some SHIT. WarWolves. Bloodz vs. Wolvez. Little Dead Rotting Hood. Cursed. Werewolf of Washington.

But then you get weirdly-shaped little gems like Never Cry Werewolf (I'm not gonna say it's good, but it's fun) or Curse Of The Werewolf, and amazing stuff like the Ginger Snaps trilogy or The Howling. And then it's back to unforgivable garbage like literally all the Howling sequels.

Brotherhood of the Wolf is SO good, but yes, no werewolves. I guess we can always say that the reaction of the characters to the Beast for most of the movie mirrors a typical werewolf story, so the tropes are somewhat present.

I saw this movie for the first time when I was like 13 and it introduced me to Vincent Cassel, hell yes.
