Crude humor that isn't actually funny and is out of place. That's the biggest thing for me. I don't watch much comedy these days because most of it really isn't anything I find funny.

I agree and have had this mindset for a long time.

The review embargo ends maybe two hours before the film does.

When there's a contextless action scene within the first 20 minutes (excluding examples where the movie opens on an action scene - those can often be good).

When one or more of the main characters smirks a lot.

When the jokes start right away rather than trusting the audience to care about the setup/plot before letting the jokes begin.

Clunky exposition early in the story (a movie can be good if it only has clunky exposition late in the story). A movie that is good will either a) blend the information into the story naturally or b) trust the audience to stick around through a prologue.

When the trailers have no color and no one smiles and it's SO SERIOUS GUYZ!!!! (I mean this for the kind of movies I like, which are not Oscar-bait).

It's a sequel to a comedy.

If there are werewolves in it.

And I say this as someone with an entire shelf of werewolf movies, because I collect the damned things.

Also, if Rob Schneider or Adam Sandler is in it. But that's Easy Mode.

-When the trailer is already boring.

-when 15 minutes in you don't know what the film is supposed to be about or who the characters are.

-When it's a romantic comedy made in Hollywood.

When immediately after the movie comes out, people stop reporting about it.

It's directed by Tarantino or Bay.

Well, I mean, that's the highest probability of it being bad for me. I just do not enjoy their work most of the time.

If it's a "fannish" property being adapted that isn't MCU (or Fox Marvel.)

When it stars Ione Skye.

When the actors in it don't do any press for it, or when Oprah talks about the cast of the film or TO the cast of the film but NEVER talks about the film.

When the director shits on it.

Looking at you, Trank.

If it's a comedy based on an old TV show. Doubly so if the show was animated and the movie is live-action. Triply so if it contains CGI.

When there's a lot of hype leading up to the release and within a week you hear nothing (John Carter, Battleship, Red Dawn the remake)

Michael Bay directed it (TMNT and Transformers)

It has little, or nothing, to do with the source material (I'm looking at you, Jem)

If it's a sequel (This one has some exceptions, but generally Sequel = Not good to me.)

When all the hype is about who's in it rather than what it's about.

Even worse, when all the hype is about who's directing it rather than what it's about. Not only will it be a bad movie, it'll be a bad movie that's basically a love affair to the director's ego and fetishes.
