I see those same brands all day long in stores and restaurants, so it doesn't bother me.

Also, not everything is paid product placement. I worked on a show several years back where our characters had iPhones, but Apple wasn't paying us to use them. It was just the prop department making the decision, and it's a popular, often-used device.

That said, I find the made-up brands to be pretty funny, and I like to look for them in various pieces of media. Heisler Beer... Lariat Car Rental...

I only remember Lariat Car Rental as the place Joss Whedon was working in a Veronica Mars episode. Has it appeared otherwise?
