I liked the scene overall. A bunch of people seemed to criticize it, saying it should have ended when she boarded the ship to find him, and the walking-up-the-hill thing took too long. But I thought it was pretty, and nice, and it had to end with her meeting Luke.

That being said, I did think the whole "Luke map" plot was a little weakly devised, and like, man she was lucky he was on that exact hill which she had to climb herself. But to be honest, clever plotting has never been part of Star Wars, and that's okay, it is what it is.

I'll admit I'm in the ended with boarding the Falcon camp. Mainly because I want nice gaps between the movies, and the finding Luke feels too much like it will be tight continuity and tight serialization (which is a JJ Abrams kinda thing) and I don't like that. Loose serialization and continuity, yes, tight pick ups from a cliffhanger every episode, no. However, the scene itself was not badly performed in any way. I think it did a competent job of showing a man in shock at his past catching up with him and a young woman in awe of a living legend in front of her.
