Re: Favorite and least favorite fandom?

The friendliest fandom I ever found was the old Robin of Sherwood fandom. The 1980s series. We had fun, and filks, and goofy competitions. We had Clannad! It was cool. I was genuinely sad when it faded away.
Here, go watch an episode:

The most irritating fandom is the Joss Whedon fandom. I won't specify specific shows (although the way the fans use one in particular, because of the timing and circumstances, is probably the standout), simply because the fans really don't give a rats ass about the shows themselves except for bragging rights. They follow Whedon himself and will savage any criticism and defend everything he does with a rabidness that genuinely makes me a little afraid at times. I just know that if I finally get doxxed and swatted, it will be a Whedonite behind it.

I used to love Robin of Sherwood! I was so sad when I discovered it too late to participate in the fandom.

You would have loved it, everyone did. Plus all the 80s feathered hair. I will always have very fond memories of it. The nice dose of new age paganism at tea time was a bonus.

It sounds amazing. :( I'm sorry you're missing it anon.

There was a camaraderie in it. Reflected from the show itself, really. People coming together to be nice, to be family. These days it seems like all fandom is is nitpicking and yelling at each other to score petty points.

Camaraderie. Yeah that's definitely what's missing these days. I had a few old fandoms and the sense of being part of something was brilliant.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that one show that stands out is Firefly. Amirite?
