I hesitate to say anybody deserves to be physically branded like that, but I agree the reality check it provided for her brought her way down from her awfulness throne. So in a plot way, it was cool. In real life, it would be horrific.

I hesitate to say "she deserved it" but this is definitely a case of making your own goddamn bed. Which she has been doing since the first episode.

Violence is never the first answer. It shouldn't be the second, third, or forth. It sickens me that anyone would think that was OK.

She's an asshole, but most everyone else in the prison is a BIGGER asshole. I agree that it made her more tolerable in the sense that the pain humbled her, but the actual assholes were the women who DID the branding. Fuck them.

The Latinas were literally the ones running the panty business. She never had racist motivations, just asshole motivations (and semi-self defense, since if they got caught they would've ratted her out, so she had to rat them out first).

I agree. She knew exactly what she was doing when she lied to the guard about the Latina inmates starting up gangs, and that didn't just fuck over them, it fucked over every non-white prisoner. It was bad enough that she felt she was entitled to the other inmates paving the financial way for her, post prison, but actively fanning flames over a worse off group? And thinking the outcome happening to them was no biggie, since at least her personal goals were going well? She's lucky she got off with only a horrible symbol reflecting her sociopath ways. Even that was something she got the good fortune of being able to alter into being less horrible. All the people she fucked over were far less lucky.

Piper haters constantly blow things out of proportion while conveniently forgetting that nearly everyone else in prison is objectively a bigger bitch than she is.
