Good point, but this is a world where Padme died "of a broken heart" in childbirth like a Victorian heroine, despite the existence of advanced tech and robot obstetricians. Not saying it's still not dumb, but it's consistent with the dumb that's canon.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, in Padmé's case, you could probably make up some Force related stuff or something?

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're willing to do that in Padme's case, how are you going to go and act like it's an insurmountable issue with trans!headcanons?

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Padmé died in direct connection to Anakin's whole bullshit and that had a hell of a lot to do with the Force?
How would you connect a trans headcanon with the Force? (Especially in Hux's case who is probably not even a little Force sensitive.)

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no canonical evidence that states that Padme died because of the force. You're using your imagination to create an explanation that does not exist in the text.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't answer my question.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
My point is that you've already shown that the text is not sacrosanct. I don't see the necessity of playing games with the in-world rules to see whether or not we can justify something by them. I mean, it's a fun game if you like it. But it's not necessary and it doesn't make either bit of fanfiction more or less justified. Either way, it's an alteration of the text. So, you know, just fucking let people write what they want to write.

I let anyone write what they want to write. I just block the stuff I hate and move on. But I still have the right to speak my opinion when the topic comes up.

You're the one who started a conversation about why you think this particular fanfictional trope is bad. I happen to think your reasons are dumb.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-05 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I said nothing about "bad". I stated why in my opinion, that thing is dumb. I can't help it if you're some touchy trans fetishist who can't handle a different opinion.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-05 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly you seem more like a touchy transphobe.

Sure, and people have developed excellent fan-theories. But those are fan-theories, not canon afaik. So if someone really wanted a 30-something trans dude who didn't have magic sci-fi surgery, there are worse canons to do it in.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-05 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Of course they can. I can still find it dumb though.

Absolutely.

No amount of medicine and tech can help you, if you don't want to live.

Well, they could have had her killing herself if she really didn't want to live. But instead she died of a broken heart, which in my experience is kind of unusual even in non-sci-fi settings.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-05 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Dying from a broken heart is a phenomenon that actually exists in real life though.

It's generally treatable now, assuming that one is close enough to medical care, like, say, being surrounded by medical droids.
