Re: Shows that you feel were screwed over

Almost Human--network fucked 'em over. I think it was getting decent ratings, but c'mon. This was the show that finally put me off ever watching the first season of anything on Fox. Cus they screwed me over with Alcatraz, cancelling it after the first season as well.

And Longmire got screwed over by A&E cus the show didn't "fit" the network anymore and they left it on a huge mother fucking cliff hanger. Thankfully, Netflix picked it up--and has continued with it. Yay.

Almost Human, yes I am now boycotting Fox before. It wasn't the first time Fox has burned me with a series (that would be Alien Nation from 100 years ago), but it is the last time. I am done with Fox.

Fox changed the order of episodes around (as they often do), but even so Almost Human was getting decent ratings. The problem was that Fox didn't own the show - think it was produced by a different production company - and so Fox shelved it in favor of their own programming.

I should find Almost Human and watch the episodes I missed because I really liked what I'd seen of it, though I didn't think the last episode made for a good season finale, let alone an eventual series finale. I don't know if it was the episode order that made the show feel that way, but at points it started to feel more "cop show in a super techy future" and less about the mythology and a bigger plot with whatever John's girlfriend was involved in. (My mind is saying terrorism, but I really don't remember anymore) I think the show was at its best when it focused on the human aspects despite the contrasts between humans, synthetics, and the genetically engineered humans. I think for a show like this that was so big on special effects and CGI, just decent ratings wouldn't be enough to keep it around, and as soon as I read the show was on the bubble, I knew it was a goner.

I was liking Alcatraz too!

Unfortunately, I know several people who also gave it a chance and were all disappointed when Parminder Nagra's character got shot in 2012 and quit the show in protest. Except of course that her character isn't gone at all, she starts appearing in the 1963 portions. AND I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW WHY. Although I was interested in other aspects of the story (a legit M/F friendship story being another highlight), that was the main reason I kept watching, to get the answer on that one.
