Your Least Favorite Movie Ever

(Anonymous) 2016-07-09 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
What's the one movie you dislike most out of all the movies you've ever seen?

It does not by any means have to be the objectively shittiest or worst-made movie you've ever seen - you can dislike it for any number of reasons, and those reasons can be as petty or odd or specifically personal as you want. They just have to be enough for you to say, with some confidence, "this movie is my least favorite movie ever" and not something like "I'm annoyed at this movie right now."

The Toxic Avenger or Surf Nazis Must Die. It is a toss up because I hate them for different reasons but I hate them equally.

Into the Wild

Words cannot describe how much sheer disgust and loathing I have for that movie and its main character.

Basically any movie involving Adam Sandler. Or Vince Vaughn.

Cringe comedies. All of them. It's an entire genre that I hate with a passion.

Ghostbusters. Cannot stand it. I mean the original. Not through any fault of the movie, but I had the misfortune of having to share an apartment with one of those power nerds who believe it is a free-marketeer's gospel and all about the wicked gummint shutting down the little business man and how the government should be shut down in favor of having individual business run things directly. He just would not shut up about it, and he watched it over and over and gave the same deranged rant every time. I ruined the movie for me, and to this day I cannot watch it without hearing his horrible sanctimonious voice.

The Village.

I like the idea of a pilgrim era horror story.

I like the idea of a village which has decided to come up with a deeply fucking stupid way of terrifying its kids into line.

I even like the idea of neo-luddites rejecting the modern era and having problems going back to the way things were in the past.

I especially like the idea of a blind girl being the main character and hero of the movie.

Any of those individually would make a great movie. All of it mixed together? What a fucking waste! Pick a story and tell it, less is more.

anything from the "mind" of joss whedon

There are probably many worse films, but right now the only thing coming to mind is The Architect with Sebastian Stan. Even though you get to see Stan (yet again) kiss a guy, it just isn't worth it. That film felt like it had no redeeming value. (Boring, depressing, etc. I thought it was a massive waste of time.)

I haven't seen very many movies, but of the ones I've sat through to the end, my least favorite was Napoleon Dynamite. I very nearly fell asleep in he theater (would have done had the seats been more comfortable).

Love Actually is the first one that comes to mind.

Like, I get why other people like it, but I just don't care about most of the stories.

It doesn't help that everyone around me gush about it like it's the best Christmas movie ever and that we have to watch it, it being a tradition and all.

Green Hornet

Unlike comedies or oscar-bait, Green Hornet is in my genre and should have been in my wheelhouse. The commercials advertised it as a buddy movie and I love buddy movies. But it was so bad. The characters were so unlikeable. The ending broke my suspension of disbelief. It was so disappointing.

Midnight in Paris. I had so many friends and relatives telling me that I needed to see it, since I liked 1920's fashion and art, but... argh! All namechecks and no substance. I know it's mostly a forgettable Oscar Bait film and I shouldn't get so worked up about it, but the fact that everyone thought I'd love it really soured my opinion on it.

Animal House. Gross in a multitude of ways, and I was forced to watch it daily for a while because of a roommate who liked to put it on as background noise in our dorm and I was too afraid of hurting her feelings to ask her to stop.

I watch bad movies for fun. I love The Room and Ben and Arthur and Troll 2.

Fant4stic is the worst movie I've ever seen. There's so much wrong with it. It's so bad. It makes me angry because it's not even fun to watch in a "this is absolutely horrible" kind of way. It's boring. Its pacing is nonexistent. It manages to be more sexist in 2015 than the original Fantastic Four comic in 1961.

Jumper. That shit was so boring and I hated every second of it, what's worse is that I couldn't leave because the friend I went to see it with was my ride and I had no way of getting back home on my own. Blaaaaargh.

Also Godzilla 2014 is a good contender for that title as well.

500 Days of Summer. And before you come and jump on me with the "Tom was the asshole blah blah blah." Yes, I know. Every time someone mentions the movie, that comes up. But honestly both lead characters are huge assholes and the movie is insufferable and pretentious.

The movie that manages to top Highlander II on my list is 9 Songs just for sheer pretension. It's a movie about sex that isn't remotely interesting, mixed with rock footage that looks like bad youtube concert video. The relationship starts nowhere and goes nowhere. It was hyped for realism because the actors actually had sex on camera, which ended up exactly what you expect from from sex-for-pay.

The Boondock Saints

I know it's got a huge fan following, but goddamn, that movie was terrible. Willem Dafoe's acting alone was so aesthetically offensive, it would be reason enough to condemn the movie, and yet there are still many more.
