Maggie Sawyer in the Batwoman comics, Renee Montoya on Gotham

Basically DC decided Batwoman couldn't get married, and the comic kind of went off the rails after that. A lot of people seemed to think that was homophobia but it really appears to be that DC wants its characters in constant relationship flux. They're morons who don't understand the audience for that comic basically.

Renee Montoya got pushed off the show after fanboys got upset at her... existence?

Comic book guys are the worst. Seriously.

Maggie Sawyer is going to show up on Supergirl season 2, so hopefully they treat her better. Do comic book guys hate Supergirl? I haven't been able to start it yet.

It was still homophobia, but it was indirect structural homophobia instead of active and directed homophobia. There are different types of these things, different flavours if you will.

True--except that they were doing that with their male heroes as well.

Trust me I don't look at that shit lightly.

Nah, the sequence of events was basically the Batwoman team quit after editorial nixed their planned Batwoman wedding story, word broke out and there was a shitstorm and DC backpedaled and annulled all superhero relationships to cover their ass.

I get the sense that it's a very different kind of show for superhero stuff, don't get me wrong.

What don't you like about it?

I don't actually think it's all that different from all the current superhero tv shows out there. The show isn't 100% shit. Melissa Benoist does a very good job and is definitely the highlight of the show. The relationship between Kara her sister is also good. And bringing in Martian Manhunter kept me watching for another 4-5 episodes.

But the writing is pretty bad and very cringe worthy at some places. It's the worst in the pilot, but it doesn't improve that greatly. None of the characters are all the compelling. The writers cannot decide if they want Cat Grant to be a huge feminist icon or Miranda Presley. Winn has absolutely no point to his character. And the romance between Kara and James was so badly done.

I also don't like how they constantly shit over Lois Lane.

I read "Miranda Presley" as "Miranda Priestly" and all of a sudden became very interested in this crossover.

I was against Maggie/Kate from the beginning, though maybe for dumb reasons. I didn't think Kate needed to be paired off with all the other well-known lesbians in the DCU in sequence.
