Good lord! Anyone can like Irish music. If this London Muslim Imam can learn sean nós singing and even win prizes for it at the Feis Ceoil, then you can like some shamrock-bedecked LA punk band

He has a lovely voice. And wow, other Muslims saying music is bad or banned? You have no soul, if you can talk about music like that. It's the one truly universal thing, in my mind.

Being anti-music is a surprisingly common religious idea, for some reason - I'm pretty sure there have also been Christian sects that advanced the idea. Certainly music that's not explicitly religious.

Oh, plenty. Music is bad, dancing is bad...blech. A page on Facebook called 'My Stealthy Freedom' has talked, among other things, about women being accosted in the streets and/or chastised publicly for singing.
It's ...honestly, it's grotesque, to me, no matter who is doing the banning.
