I hate it because it reeks of typical SJW "tough talk" designed to gain brownie points, as if the act of creating a whole diversity mod itself weren't enough. How else would the cool kids notice your progressiveness if you don't constantly rub it in everyone's face?

It's also weird to me how often it's white people themselves that do this. I'm not white and even I don't get as overly offended over fictional whiteness as some of these fans.

I think it's some kind of fandom version of "but I have black friends!" Which works about as well as you'd expect as a protest.
