You didn't really help your case.
Sure, the commenters could have been nicer, but you weren't doing yourself any favors, either.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-30 01:28 am (UTC)(link)And yeah, in hindsight I should of mentioned it somewhere in my secret, that is on me.
I just didn't think I needed to because I didn't expect so many commenters to freak out and assume wild assumptions about me.

As someone who actually uses a Windows PC for artwork, I find the obsession with video games so many PC users have kind of strange. I'm sure I seem snooty about it.

Which is so funny because I KNOW places that actually build and work on games either use Macs exclusively or use a mix of the two. And yet, PCs are the platform that can handle things better, outside of console games.
(I edited this down a lot, to what I think is the main point)
Macs have a reputation for longevity: an investment which will pay off over time. And they have been used by art schools and film schools for a long time. Artists, designers, and writers will favour the workhorses they learned on in school.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-30 07:22 am (UTC)(link)I think this is the crux of it, rather than some kind of monetary investment paying off over time. It's a time investment - it's what you're familiar with. From a monetary perspective, I'm not sure that it does pay off. Higher price point/longevity vs lower price point/more frequent upgrades may actually come out pretty even in the end.
Re: (I edited this down a lot, to what I think is the main point)
You can get a PC to last a good long time so long as you take care of it. Macs end up being crap BECAUSE of that longevity assumption. And I HATE that in order to repair one, you HAVE to take it to an Apple Store, unless you are lucky in that you have someone who can and even has the specialized tools to do so. That is also a crap move. It is really hard to get those tools cause Apple wants that exclusivity.
Anywho, when you only have one Apple Store in the whole of the city...yuck. PCs are easy to repair and cheaper to boot.
To me? Macs just cost too damn much to be worth it in the long run.

Also, they did not become an industry standard on the basis of iMacs.
