Either spice it up if you can justify it (can a fun character come along?) or just motivate yourself with the fun stuff you get to write later?

You should listen to me, clearly, because I'm great at writing. Having written nothing but academic work and some porn in months. :P

It's entirely possible to do porn with a good plot, but it requires a lot of care and interest in the non-porn parts. I'd go so far as to say that if you couldn't replace the sex with nonsexual scenes and still have a functional, readable story, it's more efficient not to bother with non-porn scenes.

I'm not saying to give up on the story, mind you. Just look back on why you decided to have a plot in the first place. What interested you enough that you wanted to write a continuous plot about it?
