Pokémon Go

So, an update came out for the game. While some cool stuff was added (you can re-customize your character with more color options, favorite Pokémon can't be accidentally transferred) they completely removed tracking. It has been bugged for a while but for now it is gone.

So thanks for the big 'fuck you' to rural players especially.

Huh? My tracking is still there (albeit broken, there's still apparently a Rattata somewhere) and I don't see any options for character customization. Though true that some of the moves were rebalanced. My poor five Vaporeons.

I only started playing after tracking was broken and I was really looking forward to playing with it...

It wouldn't be so annoying if the owner of Niantic (the company who made it) wasn't all "Sites like Pokevision are cheating and we are going to shut them down!"

I live in a small, rural town in OK. Pokevision is literally the only way I have any chance of finding anything that isn't a Pidgey or Rattata.

People using a product ARE entitled to things though. At least, they are if a company wants a product to do well.

It's one thing if a thing just isn't available in the game in the first place or if it's something that used to work and then gets shut down at the cost of an active part of the players.

The steps I don't care about tbh, but the part of tracking where you can select a specific pokemon and it would point you in the direction I do care about and am annoyed by.

Hopefully they will revamp it and bring it back, especially since people clearly want it back.

Yeah, if you went to the tracking screen and selected a pokemon then clicked on the compass in the top corner, it would show you which direction it was. Waaaaay more useful than the steps, but now its gone too.

Why did nobody mention this earlier?! it was always "the green square means you're closer" when no, that just means the ordering changed.

no the compass never functioned that way. it's possible you happened to find pokemon that way, but the compass feature just makes it so that it points north (and you can rotate the map manually) OR that it always points in the direction you're facing and moves with you. it has never indicated the direction of the pokemon.

It's not on everyone's phone yet. Just some Androids have it so far, the news says.

This makes me feel even less bad about using Pokevision, honestly. At least when the tracker worked, I could use it to track things down. These days I have spent literal hours wandering in circles unable to find something that was showing up as being nearby. How is that supposed to be fun?
