Don't think of it as an "orientation" so much as a "personality quirk." I think demisexuality is a real thing, but it doesn't have the same political significance we've attached to "lesbianism."

Then again, political lesbianism, as opposed to just being WSW, is kind of kooky, so maybe it would be better if just let sexual orientation be psychological quirks, and pull back from the identity part.
