Yes. I was hoping that would be what this thread was about.

My cat is almost 19. He was already elderly when I got him, so I have no reference for if his behavior is just physical or cognitive decline. He's uninterested in play and he has toileting problems, but he doesn't get lost or cry for no reason (he cries with reason). He's probably just got old bones.

nayrt - poor thing :( A cat I used to babysit was about 20 also, and the little guy was just not all there. But he wasn't in pain or anything, and he ate okay, but couldn't really control his bowel movements at all and never seemed to notice that he'd walk around covered in poop. The family would diligently clean him off daily. He was very beloved, but clearly very old.

Yeah, I knew someone whose dog got dementia towards the end of his life. I see no reason a cat wouldn't have something similar. I mean, heck, octopuses are infamous for their mental decline and behavioral changes when they're old, and they're far more afield from us biologically!
