Dude I'm sure OP knows that, considering it's right there in the book, but there's no surefire immunity against fading or death in Valinor. It's only called the undying lands because it's populated by immortal races (Ainur and elves).

I personally don't agree with the headcanon either but it's really uncool to be so snide about it, especially since the OP openly admits it has more to do with projecting their RL issues than about analysis. I can understand how there could be an id-ish appeal to indulging in the fantasy of a woman meaning so much to her father that he can't live without her.
