Re: Souvenirs

I've never really been a souvenir-buying person but it actually sounds like a nice idea to start. The problem, I guess, is that I mostly associate the concept with chintzy tourist-trap stuff, which I personally happen not to care for, so I'm not sure what kind of souvenirs I'd actually want to buy. Something like postcards just seems so insubstantial. I don't know.

I'm probably not going to be doing any traveling in the near future so it's not like it's an immediate concern or anything, I guess.

What kinds of little knick-knacks do you like in general? It doesn't have to be something you buy at the tourist trap, and it wouldn't necessarily even have to be "branded" with the place you visited. Like, maybe you really like clocks, so whenever you go on a big trip you make a point to find a little shop and look for a clock there. Etc. You could do it with a lot of little things!

I like to buy normal stuff -- books, clothes, jewelry. They're not obviously souvenirs, but they are stuff I'll enjoy and use, and I'll still remember that this came from Canada and that came from Vermont, and so on.

Or I buy wines and ciders. :) Might not even save the corks, honestly, but it's still another little (one-time) reminder I get to have later on.
