What lived up to it's hype for you?

Movies, games, food, experiences.

Mad Max: Fury Road!! And, more recently, Stranger Things.

+1 on both of these, and to a lesser degree, Ghostbusters (less amazing overall than the other two, but actually even more fun than I expected it to be from the hype it was getting in feminist circles)

Yes to Stranger Things! We just started it tonight and only got halfway through the second ep so far but we already love it.

I needed to be persuaded to see Fury Road... and then I went back and saw it a bunch more times and bought the blu ray first chance I got!

Came here to say both! I was honestly surprised by how much both of those worked for me, and how awesome they were.

Fury Roasd was my immediate thought as well. As I staggered out of the theatre, my exact words to the owner were, "Well, that lived up to the hype."

Jurassic World.

Though to be fair I don't think the original is the pinnacle of movies and my standards weren't super high.

Yes.

Game of Thrones. I didn't like season 1 and didn't even finish but a few weeks ago I put season 2 on and with a couple episodes I was hooked. Now I'm impatiently awaiting s7 along with millions of others when originally I laughed that they'd have to wait longer than usual for their crappy show. Karma got me.

The Force Awakens, but I was expecting it to be as terrible as the Phantom Menace.

Seconding this. I was expecting something very not good, more Star Trek Into Darkness or Star Trek 2009 all flash and no soul, but it was great. That bit where they first re-find the Falcon again, not as a glorious heroic symbol but as "garbage" yet still somehow awesome nonetheless really captured the essence of the series. I was like Han, we were home.

I'm gonna throw in Pacific Rim as a contender too. From start to finish I loved it. It had the perfect blend of character, effects, action, and just enough camp to make it all work. I wish they'd hurry up with the sequel.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I really did not like the first Captain America movie so my expectations were low.

Mad Max: Fury Road. Everyone was talking about how amazing it was. And they were right. I don't think I blinked during the whole movie.

Captain America: Civil War. I was super hyped for this and the hype was right on.

Chocolate souffle. I have always wanted to eat one and had the opportunity in Washington DC. It was amazing and I wish I could find someplace around here to eat one.

You could try learning to make chocolate souffle. It's tricky, but not impossible, from what I've heard from people.

Supernatural.

+1

It's a hell show, but goddamn it lives up to the hype if you're into the product that's being hyped.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I heard for years how wonderful it was but thought it sounded kinda cheesy and never cared to watch it. Then I did, and it was like, holy shit, people weren't kidding.

Most recently? Flying with British Airways. It was really one of the nicer airlines I've flown with, which tends to be what I've heard frequent travellers say.

Two flights, both crews personable and relaxed. Loaded up with snacks on both. Good experience all around, even though I was nearly a zombie by then.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is legitimately as good as people say it is. It makes some missteps, and there are times when I think it discards good concepts in its efforts not to be like II, but it's still a worthy game even if you're not a big Bioware fan.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is so good. It's everything I've wanted out of Deus Ex for 15 years.

The new Ghostbusters It was hysterical!

Sandman

I just finished it. I don't know that I ENJOYED it, as such, but I couldn't stop reading and I found it very very impressive. Legit art.

All of the MCU for the most part.

Standing in the heavy down-pour at Tuska Open Air, with a few hundred metalheads, not having a care about being completely soaked, because we were so wrapped up in the ritual on stage. Say what you want about Ghost, but it is damn near a religious experience. ( Just not for the man uppstairs...)
