LMAO

You thought after almost 20 years that South Park said anything against that stuff? Matt and Trey are libertarians and think it's funny to make fun of everyone and everything. They've gone after several religions, say Mormons are the only Christians to get into Heaven (all while saying their religion is bullshit), Satan is relatable as fuck, Al Gore believes in manbearpig, said Prius owners are smug assholes who like sniffing their own farts, Stan's dad is Lorde. There's also the episode 'Death Camp of Tolerance" in which Mr. Garrison does depraved shit in front of his students (like sticking a gerbil into Mr. Slave's ass) in order to get fired for being gay so he could sue and get bank, all while showing the people visiting and working for a tolerance museum are hypocrites for harassing someone for smoking a cigarette outside the building nowhere near a door.

They killed of Chef horribly because his voice actor got butthurt over them making fun of Scientology (he is a member of it), and I'm pretty sure Chef was a much liked character to boot.

OMG I forgot about the Prius owners ROFL

My favorite episode is the one where the adults in town get into a kidnapping hysteria which ends with them sending their children away because most abductions are by parents, so they think it is the only way their kids will be safe.

That one is a good one! I love ho the kids end up joining the Mongolians and how the Mongolians keep attacking the wall City Wok guy builds. Damn Mongolians!

Lmao, I own a Prius. And as a nerdy white girl I'm sort of tickled that I apparently fit into a demographic South Park has specifically made fun of. (Well. I'm also religious, but not Mormon?)

(Anonymous) 2016-09-07 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If South Park hasn't specifically made fun of you, you're not human.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-07 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Has South Park spent a lot of time making fun of South Park fans, then

Not like they don't deserve it

(Anonymous) 2016-09-07 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Right???

Like, does it actually spend a lot of time making fun of libertarians, people who think the truth is in the middle, and people who object to political correctness. Maybe it does. I don't watch the show.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"and people who object to political correctness"

Kind of? Cartman is the most racist, bigoted member of the main cast, and he's treated as a joke and pretty much always shown to be in the wrong.

Hell, they made fun if shippers and yaoi fangirls. I mean, those types of people watching the episode took the wrong message from it and ended up shipping Craig and Tweek hardcore.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
What about people who watch South Park more generally

It's hilarious that you think people weren't shipping those characters for years before that episode aired. It was written because people were shipping them.

That's a fair point.

They killed of Chef horribly because his voice actor got butthurt over them making fun of Scientology (he is a member of it), and I'm pretty sure Chef was a much liked character to boot.

His name is Isaac Hayes.

And while he did get butthurt over the jabs, it's not the reason he left. He was forced to leave due to Scientology's batshit crazy rules (I'm assuming shortly after that episode, Matt and Trey ended up on their list of people that scientologists are not allowed to talk to).

And he's no longer a member. He died a few years ago as well.

[personal profile] sachiko_san 2016-09-08 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I know who it was, but not everyone knows that.

I completely forgot he died, holy shit. And it was scientology's fault? All the more reason to make fun of them.
bur: Gor! It's Anakin with a baby impaled on his lightsaber!! The horror, the horror. (GOR!)

I loved the whole episode where they tried to get Tom Cruise out of the closet. It is near and dear to my heart in ways I can't explain.

Also The Return of the Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers Video Store.

Poor Butters!! :((((

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
YES. The Tom Cruise one is hysterical. And my family still likes to quote the one about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck from time to time :p.

I also love the episode where they start a Christian rock band.

[personal profile] sachiko_san 2016-09-08 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I love the Black Friday Trilogy (Princess Kenny was the best part), and I finally got the references after I started reading the GoT books, it was nice.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
The Tom Cruise episode is one of my favourites, right up there with the "Kanye West is a Gay Fish" episode

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
I love the episode where Kenny wants to kill Cartman because he is giving Nascar a bad name.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-08 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It was the Jehovah's Witnesses who got into Heaven, not the Mormons.

[personal profile] sachiko_san 2016-09-08 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, it's Mormons. Matt and Trey have a weird obsession with them.
