Re: Who are your NOtps?

My biggest is when one character (usually the guy) asks another character out in canon (usually the girl) and they say no. So Kanan/Hera and Dipper/Wendy and... crud, that Green Lantern movie, him and the girl? The scene where he keeps asking her to dance and she keeps saying no over and over then it cuts to them dancing just hit all kinds of NO.

Weirdly I don't have any squick if they're flat out enemies as long as romance isn't brought into the picture.

I also really hated
Grissom/Sara
House/Cameron

Yes, all of this. Persistence to the point of ignoring boundaries is not romantic.

This is an issue for me, but only if the guy keeps pushing. So I do ship Kanan/Hera because at least as far as I've watched (only just started season 2), he wasn't pushed. People can change their minds. So I'm usually okay if the guy accepts her answer and backs off and then the girl changes her mind later (or vice versa). But if he pushes multiple times, then it is a NOTP for me.

For me really that one no is it. I know in real life people change their minds all the time, but there's just so much out there pushing not to give up hope and that no doesn't always mean no forever that even though I know others are ok with it as long as it's handled well for me it's just too big a squick to get past.

Like in the scene in Winter Soldier where he asks Sharon out and she turns him down gently and he respects that and backs off... there was commentary on how that was put in to show how awkward and bad he was with women! So that once he learned to be more confident and persistent she'd go out with him. That made me NOPENOPENOPE away from that pairing too.

I wish more handled it like Gravity Falls where a no actually means no and you shouldn't hold out hope and you can't 'earn' her changing her mind. (And especially not 'see I respected your no I'm a nice guy you should reward me with sex' )

I didn't mind House/Cameron in fics where it's well written but they're usually badly written.
