Shiro/Matt > that random ass ship

It's funny, because I see Matt as being about the same age as Keith, Lance and Hunk, since he's wearing a garrisson cadet uniform and the guys confused Matt for Pidge in that photo, yet people treat Shatt as So Much Healtheir And Not Pedophilia Like Sheith Is.

Literally why???? I can't think of a more random, baseless ship. Might as well ship Keith/Coran while you're at it. Except they've been in the same vicinity and have interacted, so even that has more logic than Hunk/Matt.

Also, the age thing is pure speculation. Matt could be any age at this point, so crying "Shiro/Matt is problematic!" like you are is pretty ridiculous.

I think they could bond over their enthusiasm for their respective fields of expertise, and two intelligent people bonding over science and stuff and falling in love is a trope I like.

I don't see how Matt could be any age when we saw him wearing a cadet uniform the night before the Kerberos launch and he looks as young as the "late teens" paladins. I think you're just upset because someone is calling your Shiro-ship *gasp* problematic. I guess you're just going to have to deal with it like the rest of the not-Shallura shippers.

Shallura is problematic though, she's like thousands of years old and he's only 25. Also you, or they, are calling the ship problematic based on pure speculation, so you can go eat a bag of dicks for that, dumb bitch.

Also, if you're 20 or older and shipping any of the Paladins other than Shiro then you're a pedo. Those are the rules proclaimed by Klancers.

As someone who looks much younger than they actually are: hi! We exist. And cadet uniform could imply an age gap between Matt and Shiro that could be anywhere from 5 years to 1. For all we know, Shiro particularly excelled (which his stats prove) and got much further ahead than most at a young age. And, as others have said, Shiro's age is still not properly confirmed. Neither are the Paladins, for that matter. I get that you like Hunk/Matt, but you don't have to pull out the "problematic" card at another ship you don't like the minute someone points out that your ship kinda...makes no sense. And someone pointed out below why Shiro/Matt is considered acceptable, it's because it doesn't get in the way of Klance. And there is no discernible age gap there beyond reaching on your part.

You sound mad. Does it make you feel uncomfortable when someone accuses your ship of being problematic?

I find it funny when people ship Shatt but are anti Shiro/paladins because of the age difference when Matt looks just as young as the rest of them. If you call that trying to start shit, then yes, I guess I am trying to start shit.

I think they're fine with Shatt because it doesn't interfere with Keith/Lance and keeps Shiro out of the way. Most who are anti-Shiro/Paladins are really just anti-Shiro/Keith because they find it threatening, but they can hide under the anti-Shiro/Paladins umbrella to make it seem like it's about important social justice bullshit and not actually about petty shipping war bullshit.

Yep, exactly. They're pretty transparent, really. They're not interested in Shallura, but they still want to ship a Shiro pairing to keep him away from Keith, and the only option that won't immediately make them look like hypocrites is Shiro/Matt - even though Matt is clearly younger than Shiro, both based on his appearance and the fact that he wears a cadet uniform rather than the one reserved for officers like Shiro.

If the alien can't tell by looks alone that Matt is young enough to be referred to as "the young earthling", then that must mean he based that assumption on behavior and interaction. And that is even worse than if he just assumed he was a young earthling because he looks young.

And even if Matt is apparently Pidge's age, that would make him 14, so shipping him with Hunk, who is late teens, would also be skeevy.

Correction, it would make him 15 or older when (if) they save him. But he looks about Lance's age, or maybe slightly younger, in Shiro's flashbacks, so I think he's older than 15.

He looks like a slightly taller Pidge. A 15 year old with an 18/19 year old is creepy.

I think Hunk/Matt could be a cute ship, yes. It's a crack ship. But the ships itself is not what I feel strongly about. What I feel strongly and react about is someone calling me a dumb bitch for having a crack ship and/or questioning people's reasoning when they say Sheith is icky pedophilia but Shatt is super okay even though, at least to me, Matt appears to be as young as Keith.
