Bucky, among others. He has stated openly he should not have been brought back from the dead (even though it's comic canon, and this is the reason he gets only an unnamed mention in AOU).

He has also has mentioned he disliked Clintasha as a ship (though not sure how he feels about either character involved).

Vision is his fave, which is why so much of AOU lingers on him, and it goes into detail explaining his origin. Hell, it's why Whedon wanted that specific storyline. He's quite fond of Tony, too, going on record that IM1 is his fave Marvel movie (and complaining that he does not like Ton's characterization in IM2).

With that in mind, a lot of things in AOU strt to make more sense.

I get the feeling he doesn't like Cap eirher considering how embarrassing he made him in the first Avengers and how he generally has no decent grasp on his character (though the "language" wank is overblown as Cap has chastised others for their pottymouths in the comics). Thank god Winter Soldier repaired all the damage Whedon did to his character and power level.

I'm also still miffed he had Vision lift Thor's hammer but not Cap, though now I understand why thanks to this new information.

Not sure if he actively dislikes him (and maybe Marvel would not allow him to say), but I'm certainly getting indifference in his writing.

The whole "language thing" and the previous "there's only one God and he doesn't dress like that", makes me thing he went for a very on-the-surface goody-two-shoes kind of interpretation of Steve's character, without trying to find out what makes him tick.

Interesting.

I like Bucky, am neutral on Clintasha (though, I'm not a fan of Brucetasha) and Vision was...okay.

So true.

The funny thing is, I actually like the Russos' Vision better, especially in relation to Wanda.

In a way, I'm glad he left Bucky out of AOU entirely, cause I want him nowhere near Bucky characterization. But in terms of continuity, it bugs me.

I'm also neutral on Clintasha, but dislike Brutasha. But...Clintasha HAD subtly been set up, and that wasn't just delusional shippers (he deliberately undid that), a,d deliberately trolls his audience. Her with the Hulk makes no sense especially after the scene where we saw her petrified of him on the helicarrier.

I did like him in CW,which I watched before AoU.

Yeah, it's usually never good when a character is left in the hands of someone who hates/dislikes them.

I thought that whole conversation she had with Clint about knowing what it's like to be unmade was a bit shippy. BruceTasha just doesn't sit with me, maybe cause I'm not a huge fan of the Hulk? Idk, but I really didn't like how most of the other character's acted like it was right under your nose all along! It came out of nowhere.

( I also don't know how to feel about the Hawkguy family brood. I was kinda hoping Mockingbird would make an appearance.)

This explains why AoU just didn't work very well, IMO as a film. He didn't like Bucky, so did not include him at all? That's in poor form, considering this was just off Winter Soldier, which was considered one of the better Marvel films, in which Bucky was obviously a major part. Whedon should have considered what would have been good for the overall world of the Marvel franchise, not what he wanted. Clintasha I'm neutral about. But hearing that he disliked Clintasha makes me wonder if that's why he put in the out-of-place Bruce/Natasha romance in the film, to sink Clintasha.

Joss Whedon - sinking fan ships for decades.

To be fair, while Age of Ultron came out after Winter Soldier, it was written - sans Bucky - in 2013, and they started production before Winter Soldier was released. It's less that Joss ignored Bucky despite Winter Soldier's popularity, more that the production team didn't rewrite and find the budget for another cameo that would have nothing to do with the main story several months into production, after the figures came in. Which is frankly a pretty reasonable choice - see Spider-Man in Civil War for how shoehorned-in-after-the-fact cameos go - given that they wouldn't be able to really devote enough time to satisfactorily move the Bucky plot along, and a mention accomplished the same thing a cameo could have.

Bucky also would have tied up Steve's secondary character slot, meaning Sam couldn't appear, and having Sam be there to set up that yes, he is an Avenger, and will be appearing as one in Phase Three was a lot more important from a storytelling standpoint. It's the same reason Rhodey was in the movie and Pepper was only there as a mention. Each of the main three solo lines was basically budgeted one supporting character appearance.
