I keep on remembering I want to watch this, since everybody says it's so great. Is there a particular season I should try, or just start from the beginning?

Season 7 is particularly good, but really you can just start with any season.

Ok! I will start from the beginning, then :)

The beginning might not be the best place to start. Season 1 of GBBO was a lot different than the later seasons -- there was more educational stuff and less baking/contest stuff. Usually I like the educational, background stuff, but in this case it really didn't work for me (maybe because I'm from the US and it was aimed at UK folks?).

Somewhere mid-season 2 it got more like the current GBBO, so you might start with season 3 or later.

I'm from the U.S. too and thought the "educational stuff" was just fine. There also wasn't that much of it, just some brief historical background about traditional baked goods, etc. I don't think the feel of the show was so different in early seasons that it should be skipped.

All the seasons are good and worth watching, though for the first couple seasons they have a slightly different format to the competition itself-- not in a bad way, just different. I think season 5 is particularly good and I believe it's on Netflix. Season 6 was also excellent. Not sure why someone recommended 7, because that one is only halfway through.

"Everyone" can be wrong. It's boring and trite and a waste of time.

I'll probably figure that out pretty quick, if that's the case :P
