I went to an urban all-girls Catholic high school In the early-mid 1990s, when alternative music was just breaking into the mainstream and most of the girls were still spraying their permed bangs 6" off their foreheads while listening to Bon Jovi (just to set the stage a little). I was in with the arty-alternative crowd, I guess. My best friend became my best friend after I looked at her face in profile and asked if I could draw her, and she wanted to be my friend after she looked at my binder and saw that all the bands' names I had scrawled on there were bands she liked, too. (I remember specifically PJ Harvey, Teenage Fanclub, and Shelleyan Orphan.)

It was a simpler time. *sniff*
