Apparently, it's okay to say "Hello" or whatever to the back of a stranger's head from some distance away when there are other people within earshot and there's no way this person is going to know they were the one you were trying to talk to and there's no reason they'd even be paying attention to unfamiliar voices behind them, but still expect an immediate response, and it's also okay to act like they are the rude ones for not realizing you were talking to them right away. Further, third parties will take your side and use the incident as proof that young people are so rude these days.
