five isn't that bad, six was brilliant for the half season that joss was in charge and then fell apart as soon as he handed it to marti, and by seven it was obvious that nobody was trying any more

Well, yes, we have to call it "manpain" so we can just dismiss it out of hand. How dare a character feel anything even when the writers are heaping loads of crap on their heads. If she was really a "strong woman," she would stiff-upper-lip that shit and not let it affect her.

Season 5 didn't bother me. Dawn doesn't really bother me.

I LOVE season 6.

I liked Dawn. I felt that Buffy's issues were earned. She goes through a whole lot of crap. I loved season 5. The only season I'm a bit meh on is 7, but I still like it. I just think it is the weakest. But I adore 1-6.

Disagreed on everything except Riley and Xander. I actually liked Riley's arc because I thought he was a terrible human from the get-go, and him making Buffy's grief over her mother's illness and death all about him was 100% in character. It made me hate Xander for backing him, though.

Season Five is a mess, but Dawnie gets better later at least. Of course, once the "Trio" really got going mid-S6, the show was largely awful.

If you're sick of Buffy's manpain in Season 5, I'm not sure how you will make it through Season 6.

Oh, and don't ever watch Cabin in the Woods. It takes the Dawn plot (which I actually liked and understood Buffy's position) and makes it stupid.

I don't understand what you mean about Buffy refusing to save the world (or let others) so that she can die before Dawn does. Are you saying that Buffy should have killed Dawn?

I loved season 5 the first time around, I've found it harder to rewatch because parts of it are very grim (also Glory is kind of a boring villain). But what I still like about it is the show's willingness to make changes and fool around with things to make them different. And, I mean, "The Body" is great.

(I rewatch Buffy too, but it's because I enjoy pretty much all but a few episodes.)
