Oh, I know. I call myself a weeb all the time, I'm not ignorant about Japan, but I like the country and anime a lot, so I just go by that regardless of ignorance, but mostly in more of a kindred spirit kind of way.

I watch a couple of Youtubers who commentate on anime and they, particularly The Anime Man, who is a Japanese-Australian guy (half Japanese, currently living in Japan), has strong opinions on what exactly is a "weaboo", and recently posted a video that was basically "Japan is not like Anime".

So if anime fans just keep that thought in mind and really do want to learn about what RL Japan is like, then they're not really weaboos.
