Do you like your body?

(Anonymous) 2016-10-21 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Why/why not?

No. I hate the way I look. I hate the way that I have so many health issues. The only parts of my body I like are my eyes and hair.

Yeah, more or less. It does what I want it to do. And I have control over what it looks like.

Very much not. The best I ever feel is when I can not think about it.

Yup. It does everything I want it to, usually with only a minimum of complaining, and is just generally a really comfortable thing. I could wish for better lungs and less of a tendency for migraine, but those are the worst of my complaints.

Ish. I think I'm pretty cute, but I could stand to lose a lot of weight. :\

More than I used to since my weight loss!

I don't really like my body at all in between mostly constantly being sick, two bum knees and a bum ankle, crap eyesight even though I've got really pretty eyes, and hearing impairments which make it tough to even enjoy some stuff I love like music.

I'm not a fan of my body. I'd like to lose at least two inches off my waistline and I am exercising and watching what I eat, but my measurements have stayed the same for two years, so I doubt it's gonna happen. I like my eyelashes though. They're long and naturally curly. My hair's nice too, especially when it decides to behave. I've been told that I have cute smile because of my dimples, but I don't think they're deep enough to be cute.

Not especially. It's bulky and unwieldy and unpleasant and too large. There's just too many times when I feel awkward and sweaty and awful and like I don't belong on this planet, you know?

Even my body doesn't like my body, since it keeps trying to destroy itself.

It's pretty okay in general. It's serviceable, in very good condition for its age, and not unattractive. There are certain things I hate about it, but I still make it work. I'm certainly more pleased with it now that I've been getting a bit more regular exercise and I feel fitter in general.

I'm not so stoked about the fact that my immune system is fucked forever, but of all the things to go wrong in the chronic illness department, I definitely drew the long straw.

For the most part? Pretty ambivalent.

I've got cool hair and a giant rack. Everything else about my appearance is terrible. Factor in multiple physical disabilities that involve chronic pain and I'd have to say that no, I don't like my body one bit.

Eh.

Sometimes I feel alright about it, sometimes I don't.

No but I wish I could. My girlfriend says my body is beautiful all the time but all I see is a fat lumpy mess. I hate looking at it. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like my body.

The depression probably doesn't help.

I wish it worked better.

I probably shouldn't complain about how it looks. My geneticist said there are a few people he knows who refer to my collective group type as "the beautiful people disorders" or "model syndrome". We're (generally speaking) proportioned with longer legs, have delicate looking hands and feet, vaguely elf-like features, soft translucent skin that doesn't scar or callous easily, slightly larger eyes. We have a lot of the same movements and we tend to walk and sit in certain ways.
It's weird meeting other people with the same health problems. Like going to a family reunion and meeting cousins you didn't know you had.

Mostly. I like how it's shaped. I like it's shape even more now that I've been going to a gym for the past 10 months. I wish my skin was better, though, since it's becoming obvious there will be no real gap between pimples and wrinkles (pwrinkles?) although I sometimes wonder if having skin that's more prone to breakouts is what's keeping me from having wrinkles this late in the game.

Yeah*
It's self sufficient. I don't pay much attention to it and it hasn't really changed since my late teens (~15 years ago). I'm not sure if I'm just really resistant to the effects of diet/exercise (good OR bad!) of if I'm really bad at noticing physical changes??

Eh, it does most of what I need it to do to get by, although sometimes my joints whine at me, my reaction time and fine motor skills suck, and I'm worried about my body maybe sharing a family propensity for cancer (pancreatic, colon, breast, liver, skin, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma so far between mom, both grandmothers, and one of dad's brothers, and that's not counting where they metastasized to). I need to feed it better, lose weight, and exercise it more. Glad the teen propensity for migraines and acne tapered off in my twenties, though.

Nope. I don't even feel like I fully live in this body. It's just a machine to cart my brain around.

“A beautiful woman, Simone Weil said, seeing herself in the mirror, knows "This is I." An ugly woman knows with equal certainty, "This is not I." Maud knew this neat division represented an over-simplification. The doll-mask she saw had nothing to do with her, nothing.”

You ever have something that's not so broken you want to throw it out, but it also doesn't work that great? That's my body. I'm pretty happy with how it looks, but I wish it worked better. It's the sort of thing sometimes I wonder if there's something underlying to make it kind of a lemon or if it's just the sort of general crap everyone deals with.

I'm fat. That alone is something that makes me less than happy about my body.

On the other hand, I like my face and my hair.

Yes, but I hate what I do to it lol

Just overeating and stuff lately. I'm not sure why. But my body hasn't gained anything, no lbs or even inches. It's been a champ, but I need to, like... relax for a sec.
