Can you give me an example of a time in canon when Harry 1) knew and understood with some knowledge on the subject what needed to be done about a problem, 2) was shown that he could not rely on older and more experienced people to handle the problem for him because he is a child, and 3) did not promptly if reluctantly get to work trying to fix the issue himself? I think it's also a factor that JKR was kind of married to the book-per-year format, so she liked to draw out inaction with "maaaybe the grown-up Aurors will handle it, then, maybe not" and "Harry and friends need to find this information that doesn't seem to exist in mainstream sources of research."

This made me want a story about a chosen one from the perspective of the adults and not said chosen one.

He procrastinated on figuring out the egg secret to the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament and at getting Slughorn's Horcrux memory.

I generally disagree with most people in this thread though. I love Harry.

NAYRT

Same, really. As to those instances of procrastination, somehow they make him more relatable to me, a chronic procrastinator.

I do too. I think he's a great protagonist.

I love Harry, too, and found him a very relatable character. Honestly, I don't know if I would have continued reading if it wasn't for him.

Book 6 is a good example where Harry knew he needed to view all the memories of Riddle and instead he was focused on teen drama.
