There are over 44,000 fics on AO3 tagged with Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski. And in the last 4 weeks, 700 have been posted or updated (to give a sense of scale, in the same time period in 2015: 556, 2014: 708, 2013: 759, 2012: 776, and only 14 in 2011, a few months after the show debuted). Now, awesome is, of course, objective, but there's lots of new and honestly it hasn't slowed down much.

that's pretty cool! it honestly didn't feel that way to me. maybe i'm just getting old?

i think the reason i feel like i "miss" the ship is because for a good long while there it was a huge powerhouse everywhere i went. people were so passionate about the chance it could become canon you know? i mean i couldn't turn a corner without seeing someone rave about how much they loved it, and that fire has cooled down a little bit with time. which is fine, and if new content really is being produced at a rate like that, it inspires me to write more instead of feel like there's no point, but. i don't know this was a very sentimental and possibly stupid secret lmao

ayrt

I get that. It does seem like the fanbase isn't quite as, um, zealous as it once was. But there are a lot of writers still writing and I think that will continue at least up to the end of the series. Your secret may be a little sentimental, but it isn't stupid - the fandom does seem to have quieted down a bit, and though it's kind of expected at some point, it is disappointing.

i love this comment

I'm relatively new to the fandom and I know it's dropping in popularity but it's nice to know there is still a good comparative amount of content being created for it
